I just want to go back to the night where they played over 2 hours in a tiny venue and Hostage Calm and IIOI opened
s/t is corny as hell and bit too clean and poppy a lot of the time for my taste but I'd still say I enjoyed about half of it so its not that bad overall
Self titled rules nerds Every STD album is good to great and I'm sure the next one will be great too. I imagine next Summer/Fall will be the release.
Hi just came in to say I rescind my previous statements, daybreak, self titled, and under the boards all grew on me immensely in the last 15 hours anyway saves the day is great, no bad albums, his voice isn't the same and that's okay bc he still does cool vocal melodies and damn it if self titled isn't some excellent, tightly written pop. Saves saves. In Reverie is still tied for their best album though
Sometimes I think Under The Boards is low-key the best of the trilogy. But then I listen to Sound The Alarm again and realize that isn't true. 1. Through Being Cool 2. Stay What You Are 3. Sound The Alarm 4. Under The Boards 5. Can't Slow Down 6. In Reverie 7. Saves The Day 8. Daybreak
Through Being Cool just barely edges it out for me because it was the first STD record I heard and was partly instrumental in getting me into the music that I currently listen to, way back in freshman year of high school (2005-2006). I do recognize that Stay What You Are is objectively a better album, however.
Fun little find: I think originally the song "Monkey " was entitled "For Erminie." The closing track of Two Tongues Two has a mentioning of "Erminie." Does anybody know who that is? ????
Listened to the self-titled last night, and am listening to Daybreak now. Goddamn do I need new Saves the Day soon.
Would love new Saves but also interested in that punk side project Chris has got with Geoff from Thursday bc it's been a minute since Conley has written punk imo
I was going to say that I would love for Chris to go that direction again, or at least include some punk elements again. Never heard of that side project, sounds interesting.
yep! they haven't released anything yet, interview with Geoff said they're still writing and everything
That's cool and everything, but I think it's time for another STD album. It's almost going to be the same year gap between Under the Boards and Daybreak. Dey gotta fork it over now. Side note: this Narx band doesn't need to put much work into topping Two Tongues 2 (specifically Conley here).
Woe's like the Hell Is Here of Under the Boards, nevertheless it edges the latter for their heaviest song, imo.
Soooooo just looked in my archives on Facebook. Found a great gem I saved that would be heavily appreciated by the In Reverie lovers. Now please tell me you appreciate Chris Conley even more after reading these. They are descriptions of the meanings of each song on In Reverie. Saw these guys at UF concert hall around the release of daybreak, and it was such a good show. There were only like 50 people there, it was awesome.
Part of me honestly can't believe that there are people who like the first three Saves the Day albums, and then hate everything after Stay What You Are. Just read some reviews for In Reverie on Amazon and jesus christ was that album poorly received. haha
