I’m digging “Side By Side” a lot. Anyone else find it weird that Chris is singing about being “together for life” despite having a completely different band lineup these days? I love the current lineup, but that line still seemed odd to me.
I see it more as the memories hold for a lifetime. That being said. I’m FUCKING STOKED to see them twice next month and sooo excited for the album. Y’all pessimists.
Have you seen them before? I mean, they always pull out deep cuts and play for like 2 hours. You're going to get some good stuff.
Yea I didn't mind Rendezvous being about touring cus you know it makes sense that that's something you'll write about, and then when the second song dropped i was still like well ok, but now it's clear that's going to be the whole album, which just feels odd when this is the band's first album in 5 years, but musically they've been fun and there's enough other stuff in the lyrics to grab onto that it's not a dealbreaker for me. Just a little odd.
The entire album is autobiographical. I’m sure it’ll have another song or two (or three?) about touring, since they have toured so many times at this point. They’re easily the band I’ve seen live the most times actually. :)
I think self-titled is my least favorite. There are some great songs on there, but it’s not memorable for me. This album is shaping up to be more memorable, mainly bc the production and vibe of it.
It legitimately bums me out how much I dislike all the singles for this record. I thought the self titled record was pretty mediocre... I ain’t seen nothing yet.
I’m glad the band appears to be having fun but I’m cancelling my pre-order. This album just isn’t for me.
The songs are just okay to me. Nothing I'd go out of my way to revisit. I'll check out the album when it's released but I dunno, these haven't done much for me.
Okay, so you don't relate to the lyrics with it being about going on tour. I get that completely, but the press release straight up said that the album is a history of the band so not sure what else you'd expect. At least the lyrics still paint a picture. But most importantly, I feel like no one is talking about the musical progression from the band between S/T and what we've heard so far. It's grungy but poppy and sounds like none of the music on any of their other albums. Just my two cents.
I mean sure, but it doesn't make it good. You can be a band that changes all you want and tries new things every release, but that doesn't have anything to do with quality.
I am pretty much positive this will go over (for me personally) like the S/T record- enjoying maybe 2 or 3 songs and thinking the record as a whole is mediocre. Goddamnit. The last record I loved was Daybreak back in 2011. The entire trilogy is top shelf in my opinion.
