Yeah hurts to type this but worst of the season so far

 

Probably my favorite of the season so far but I haven't thought highly of any of them so I'm still disappointed

 

man that hepatitis sketch was one of the worst things this show's done in a long time. i missed everything prior to the last minute of Bankbreakers due to not getting home from work until then but nothing much this episode worked for me. I liked Weekend Update and loved the Pennywise Conway bit but that was about it.

P!nk was pretty awesome though. And the hotel sketch was pretty good even though it reminded me of a half-baked version of one of Kumail's various Portlandia appearances.

 

So no Halloween episode and no return of David S. Pumpkins?

 

They’re doing an animated DSP special on the 27th, I believe

 

Too much Kate, not enough Kumail, she got two lead sketches without the host

 

Bankbreakers and the monologue were the only things I really liked.

 

Kumail was great, this season is not and I hope everyone on the cast and crew gets some rest over the next few weeks.

 

Man, that was really disappointing. Monologue and Bank Breakers were the only good things here.

Season as a whole has been kind of a miss so far

 

I expect some growing pains with new head writers and a cast shakeup

 

Bad ep except for monologue and kelly Anne IT

 

Kumail's monologue was amazing, the guy needs to do another standup special like yesterday. Obviously the Kellyanne/IT thing was awesome as well. I thought Update was very good. And I'm a big fan of Debette Goldry so I thought that panel sketch was a good way for them to address Weinstein outside of Update. Also Kumail yelled "Believe women!" during the goodbyes, which was great.

Rest of the episode was just alright except for that Hepatitis sketch. Meandered around for a couple minutes and then just ended. Don't know what they were trying to go for there. I agree that Kumail deserved better than this, although he was so game for everything and really put the effort into his roles all night. Dude is a total pro, though, so I wasn't surprised.

 

I will say that I cracked up hard both times he said "I see" in that retirement home sketch

 

It almost seems like SNL needs a new director at the helm. The past few years have been rife with technical issues and sub par sketches like the retirement home one would have killed 10 years ago with faster pacing and tighter direction.

Feels like the cast members are so hampered by their blocking and cue cards that they never have the chance to open up and be what they all truly are: very funny.

 

I've only seen Kumail Nanjiani in Silicon Valley before. I had no idea how genuinely funny he is outside of that! I need to catch him do stand-up some time. His monologue was brilliant. Bankbreakers was also a classic sketch!

 

the David S Pumpkins special was dumb but I think in the best way possible and was inexplicably narrated by Peter Dinklage

 

Yeah definitely got some laughs out of it but I think that's about as far as that character should ever be taken

Woah, Chance is hosting. Also Tiffany Haddish should be really funny, she killed it in Girls Trip.

 

Wow. Eminem and Chance on one show? Hopefully a musical sketch or video has both of them in it

 

I thought Taylor might be pulling double duty, Tiffany hosting is way better

 

Allllllll about those 3 shows.

Anyone else remember the Weekend Update sketch where Taran Killam played Eminem and he came on to do edited versions of his songs for Valentine's Day and they were still wildly inappropriate?
