I love The Replacements and I’m in the middle of reading their bio Trouble Boys and I got to the section discussing their infamous time on the show. Paul Westerberg called out to guitarist Bob Stinson just off-mic and said “Come on, fucker!” When Lorne realized what was said he was furious and banned them. Westerberg would later come back as a musical guest after he started his solo career. Former SNL band leader G.E. Smith later said it was his idea to book the band.
