IMO Bowen is a solid supporting cast member who has been elevated into a lead cast role because of his celebrity outside the show and within the industry. I don’t think his work on the show has reached the level (nor does it need to) Of cast members like Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, Beck Bennett, Heidi, Gardner, or the other recent lauded seniors who have graduated.
Not as bad as Beck and Kyle doing the same ad 3 times in a row on theirs lol (although I assume its a bit)
I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a shocker. He’s clearly had a lot of irons in the fire and mostly played supporting parts in sketches this season. SNL is grueling and most of the people he came up with are gone. He is gonna be missed though.
I knew his time was coming up and he'd stick around for a bit to help with the transition season, but I thought he'd finish out the season.
I kinda predicted he'd leave during the Ariana Grande episode. When I saw she was hosting the Christmas episode, I had a feeling it would be Bowen's last episode.
