Every sketch last night had a clear game and committed to it. That makes such a huge difference. There was a weird randomness and lack of coherence in the structure and focus of sketches that really killed the comedy in the first few episodes. The Bob vs Bangs sketch could have been insufferable in recent years but they went balls to the wall absurd and never let up and it ended up just being fun and dumb. And Ashley’s dedicated character showcase slot in almost every show has been going very well. Let Tommy and Jeremy and Veronica keep doing more and this can be a great season.
Decent episode. Nothing incredible, but nothing bad either. Solid the whole way through. Mitch the UPS driver was pretty fantastic though and loved MacGruber as always.
Not knowing who Josh o Connor is or Dijon , it seems the targeted age bracket may have remained the same, and alienating the older generation. I guess that has worked in the past , bring in younger stars, music guests etc…. (Well, Cher, but…) long gone are the days of Neil young, or grunge rockers, or even “classic rock” performers now?
Yeah, I think the kind of rock that SNL books is closer to what the kids like like sombr and Role Model. They should still book Turnstile at some point.
