Wow, huge for Veronika. She could become a huge star or be gone in a year.

Carl Tart should have been in there. Still hoping for the Jost and Che death announcement.

Veronika rules but where’s my boy Carl Tart

Veronika is huge casting news. How are they gonna tamp down the weirdness of her and Sarah together?

Don’t know much about Kam besides him being a Kill Tony guy, which is not great.

Yeah very excited about Veronika, don’t know anything about the other besides Ben.

Seems Jeremy has done some dropout stuff.

and also confirmed that they're pursuing other projects but will still remain a unit

Jeremy Culhane comes from a pretty solid group of sketch improvisers, so hopefully he’ll be good.

As much as I enjoy seeing Heidi in more commercials than Walter Goggins, I hope she moves onto something bigger.

Yeah the format is fundamentally just late night talk show monologues which is already a dead lazy format at this point. Made worse by the fact that for any political joke, a ton of much funnier jokes have already been made on the internet days before it gets to SNL.

Joke swap is one of the best recurring bits on SNL in the past decade, but it's like 4-6 jokes twice a year. Really they might as well do it every ep

Well hopefully PDD videos still exist on SNL with the three of them on a semi-regular basis. It’s not like Akiva and Jorma completely stopped partaking in Digital Shorts after they each left the show two and one years prior to Andy.

my 80 year old centrist aunt and uncle love Weekend Update which is all you need to know about Weekend Update lol

Kinda cool/concerning that Dropout and Kill Tony are now official talent pools for SNL.

Also kinda concerning/cool that I’m growing older and out of touch and the thing that I’m growing out of touch with is the right-wing bro podcast entertainment-sphere.

It’s almost like giving Weekend Update to new hosts who would regularly push boundaries and say jokes with even a little substance would be better than sometimes having two guys say edgy jokes under the guise of “I don’t want to say this” a few times a year

but knowing SNL were more likely to have “Amazon Prime Present Weekend Update: Daily” than we are to get new hosts with a perspective.

  16. Is there lore behind the Carl Tart stuff in here or do y’all just like him? I’ve heard him on podcasts and enjoyed his presence, not too familiar with what he’s written on the show

“Deadline understands that Please Don’t Destroy aren’t breaking up and will focus on developing other projects but they will not make any more videos for the long-running variety show.”

    So much for that hope.

He’s a familiar proven commodity to folks who are in the alt comedy and comedy podcast worlds so I think it’s easy for many to consider him a lock for being promoted to cast when doing hobby fantasy casting. It could still happen but IMO SNL passes on a ton of talented people who are beloved by the alt comedy fandom, so not adding Tart to their cast wouldn’t be an especially egregious pass.

just a fan of his, listen to a few of his podcasts and think he’d be a solid cast member. he wrote a ton of stuff with Ego last year including the Miss Eggy update piece.

I forgot that Veronica joins Jane in bringing post-Kyle Mooney TikTok/Instagram cringe comedy aboard as an official talent pool, so my “bring me” pick would be Emily Nicole Carruth.

Yeah I’m just a Carl fan, think he’d be great if he got added to the cast.

He wrote the Chappelle skit where he cut open a dog. And the Timothee Chalamet barista skit which I think about a lot.

Love Jeremy on Dropout. Are any of the old CH peeps still writers on SNL? Funny how history repeats itself.
