Devon’s post from the other day seems to be a bit more of relief. Reading that, Emil’s message and just taking in the songs from Andy Samberg and Adam Sandler about the anxiety and everything SNL causes and all you can do is hope Lorne retires soon and someone else can make it a healthier process for the cast.
I don't know if it's possible to completely remove the toxicity (SOAD voice) of SNL, like there can be less competition but people are still gonna be writing sketches until 3 am and going to sleep at 5 am on show days
That’s true. There is a nature of the beast aspect to it, but also Lorne just has an accepted cruelty to the way he does things that just kind of sucks.
Yeah it’s hard to tell how much of it is encouraged vs simply unregulated. But at this point people will work that way on the show no matter what because we have a half century of world famous celebrities telling us that they did it and that it’s just what it means to work on SNL. As awful as it sounds to work there, there are probably thousands of writers and performers out there who view it as a badge of honor and would do whatever it takes to leave their stamp. Having that mentality anywhere within the staff will always inevitably leave less room for those wanting a healthier work life
For sure. I mean, it’s celebrated. As said, the songs by Samberg and Sandler at the 50th, plus the never-ending praise for Lorne show it’s not gonna change easily. It just sucks because it’s mostly an old rich man’s old-timey way of doing things.
Totally. And also as stated before, there were probably a lot more helpful… substances being passed around once upon a time than there are now haha
Definitely did. They seemingly always have trouble with POC that aren’t immediately Lorne’s favorites.
just makes no sense to me that so many of these cast members are due to leave and yet we're dumping people who've gotten max 3 seasons and barely any chance to shine. broken system. yes i am still mad about chloe troast
