Man, what a bummer of a time to get that call. I liked him and thought he showed promise. But I think him, Devon and Jane were all gasping for airtime. Wouldn’t be surprised if she gets cut too.
I saw Emil live a few weeks back and he was really funny. He was never given much to do on SNL so I'm not surprised by this, unfortunately, but was hoping he'd be given another season.
I’m struggling to remember if there’s been a stand-up after like, 2005, that has made a dent in the show. Seems like a relic of the old SNL.
Kind of. Her dad wrote for Letterman and “In Living Color” decades ago and then a bunch of stuff no one remembers. Doesn’t seem as blatant as like Abby Elliott or the PDD guys.
That hosting gig was one of the saddest things I remember on SNL. He was huge, sweaty and voice completely blown from dress rehearsal. My parents had to shut it off because it was clear he was not long for this world.
Genuinely bummed about Emil, I thought he showed a lot of promise and seemed to actually get a lot of screen time for a new hire. Hope he gets something better for his talents
Yeah it was sad to see. Especially for his cast mates like Tim meadows trying to keep it together while also seeing him genuinely care about Chris’s well being.
For some reason, Pete Davidson has had a lot of success. He’s fine but he’s one of those, “How has he gotten so far?” cast members. He must be the nicest guy in the world.
Damn yeah I liked Emil, Jane probably won't get cut but is probably the only one I don't think worked in anything
iirc Lorne has not been shy about really liking Jane. I think he said something like he is fascinated by her or finds her very interesting or something. She’d be my first cut from the season 50 cast but I’m positive she will stay on
Devon seems like a cool guy, but whether it’s by the show’s fault or his, he did not get to shine much. 3 seasons feels like a pretty fair crack at it. Emil was done dirty though - a featured player during a landmark season with a bloated cast and barrage of celebrity/veteran cameos taking parts. He should’ve gotten another chance to thrive. Really just need Ashley to be safe though
Chloe Troast was one of the people I saw do improv last week. She was really funny and deserved a longer run.
All of that on top of the fact that Emil had a pro-Palestine segment last season I'm so ready for Lorne to retire
After reading the caption he wrote on that Instagram post, it’s hard for my head to not immediately go to that being a factor/basis for the decision
