JAJ was the only castmember that Lorne confirmed in that article is staying. I think Marcello, Sherman, and Longfellow are the future core headline standout players and are the main three who need to stay. Marcello and Sherman being the main sketch stars, and Longfellow on the WU desk.
Also i wouldn't call Dismukes "newish" anymore. This would be his 6th season. Certainly long enough where if he leaves now it wouldn't be considered a short lived SNL run.
What experience does he have besides being on the show forever? You need showrunning experience which Kenan does not have as far as I know.
I still say they should get Seth Meyers to do it. Late night is likely going away, outside of maybe Fallon. Meyers is already in the building and has experience as a producer.
Yeah Meyers or Fey make way more sense than Kenan since they have show producing experience. The one that is also a logicial contender that most people don't talk about because he isn't a super famous name is Steve Higgins who has been one of Lorne's right hands behind the scenes for years
This is a bit unrelated but I like Kenan and he has provided many memorable moments on the show but I think he would have been long gone if other opportunities came calling but sadly those opportunities just never came. He hasn’t been in much outside of SNL, and his own show got canceled after one season. I know they don’t make comedy movies the same way they used to, but I feel like there was definitely a time years ago he could have pivoted to that lane, but there are probably a lot of factors that went into that not happening (such as race, sadly)
Hader would be a good choice if he wasn't above it and didn't basically say that being bicoastal for SNL ruined his marriage , Seth and Tina are close to the category of being above it, especially since Lorne's whole thing was that he wasn't funny enough to be a comedian the way music managers etc aren't talented enough to be musicians
Hader was not a fan of the whole SNL experience, which is why he didn’t show up for the 50th. I think he’s likely gonna pursue his own stuff, like with “Barry.”
Oh wow! I do stand up comedy and got to open for KC Shornima last year. Super nice person and stoked for her if she ends up in the cast.
Fully rooting for Longfellow to get WU, I think he has the perfect delivery for it. He almost strikes me as a mix of Norm and Anthony Jeselnik which could be an amazing persona for it Shame about Devon but he really never found his legs on the show. From what I've heard he's a lot more suited for standup than sketch comedy
I’ve literally never heard of this guy before or ever seen him in any sketch. Or if I did, I don’t remember. Devon Walker exits 'Saturday Night Live' ahead of season 51: 'Me and baby broke up' Three seasons is a long time to not notice somebody
I only watch various sketches on YouTube. I don’t have time or the will power to sit through an entire episode of SNL.
Well if you’re only watching “various sketches” on YouTube and not devoting time to actually watching full episodes of the show it shouldn’t be a surprise when you don’t know who a cast member is.
His most notable reoccurring bit the last couple seasons was his Eric Adams impression. That was probably the most screentime he got.
I watched a bunch of SNL sketches on YouTube and didn’t see Chris Farley in one of em. Was he even on the show??
