I don't understand this tweet - Cecily was gonna come back for a cameo?

 

Yeah, apparently she played the person in dress rehearsal.

 

Probably saw the script and said "Nah, I'm good". But realistically I can see her coming back next week for Kate

 

It was an all around terrible idea for a cold open and they should have cut it

 

Yeah, I would bet she saw the smoke that would come from that and wanted to avoid it completely.

 

A skit centered around antisemitism in any form (especially right now) is always an awful idea. I was cringing hard, and felt bad that new Chloe had to be front and center for it.

 

Yeah the cold open was the worst in a really long time, not that it’s normally good but woof

The SNL cold open is regularly one of the most boring unfunny things in our culture lol. Every week it’s the exact same bit.

 

Am I the only one not incredibly stoked for Kate coming back? I love the alien abduction skits, but most of her stuff, I just didn't get into. I always preferred Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong over her. Kate mugs the camera way too damn much for my taste. I'm still gonna watch it, but yeah...I always thought she was incredibly overrated as a cast member.

 

They're 1,000% going to do another alien abduction skit.

 

That's cool with me cuz that's where Kate shines, but she mean mugs the camera any chance she gets. I guess when she was the star on the show, that was when I was lukewarm on SNL, primarily the Trump as president years. I'd watch if I liked the host, like Mulaney, Hader, Emma Stone, etc, but her era I watched less.

 

I am not excited. I was over her her last few years.

 

I had ups and downs with her. She could be electric on the stage but was featured wayyy too much. I really liked when she and Aidy started doing a lot more together

I finally started the new season of Schmigadoon and I really want to see Cecily back soon

 

Kate was definitely the heir to Wiig. Funny in small doses, but way too overused.

 

wiig is one of the best cast members they’ve ever had lol

 

... and I would say otherwise, coming from a different generation of watching, and appreciated Phil Hartman and the multiple seasons of him, Carvey, Nealon, Lovitz, Jan Hooks, Victoria Jackson, and Nora Dunn.

 

Kristen is talented but the show overused it the last few years of her tenure

 

TBF the show constantly misuses talent

 

The Adam Driver episode was so good. The only dud was the old people prank one. Loved the “how do you like your eggs? Nogged” joke.

The All American Bitch performance was also an all timer.

 

Wiig is no doubt talented. I just got tired of how she dominated almost every sketch during her last 3-4 years, especially when other talented cast members got buried for the 400th iteration of Target Lady.
