I'll give them a couple more seasons. I still think they're prepping Longfellow and/or Sherman to take over WU once they leave. my current prediction is Longfellow gets the desk soon after becoming a rep player in his 3rd season. I'll be shocked if there isn't a WU changeup by the 50th. I think next to leave is Mikey Day actually, he has been there awhile and he's been doing his Netflix game show host thing.
I mean a castmember just being the dedicated full time WU person and not appearing in sketches has only been a thing the last decade or so. They should go back to where the WU anchor is a sketch player too.
In recent times a lot of the time the WU host(s) is also the head writer, who are usually the ones that only do Update and nothing else (Tina partially, Seth, Jost/Che). If that's not the case then they're usually still in sketches (Fallon, Poehler, Cecily briefly)
Longfellow and Sherman seem like great fits. I can definitely see Sherman doing a Fallon and Poehler and still doing skits as well
Reviews on the show seem to say the writes mailed it in this week... I kind of agree. More more misses than hits, for me.
What was the deal with Jost and Che? Did they just get into a huge argument before they went live or something? They both seemed out of it and pissed off haha
Jost seemed really, really devastated about Cecily leaving. I wonder if they found out just as suddenly as we did
So I wondering what Vannessa Bayer was up to post-SNL and was reading about her new Will Farrell produced podcast she does with her brother. I noticed a lot of the guests were dudes in 2000's scene bands. TIL Vanessa Bayer's brother is the guitarist for United Nations and was the music editor for Alt Press from 2002-2005.
Yea, I’ve listened to a bunch of episodes and it’s a fun show given that those two are around my age. She’s also on a new Showtime show I Love That For You which I enjoyed
