It's time. This season's cast was way too overstuffed. These exits 100% would have happened a couple seasons ago if it wasnt for the pandemic shutting everything down and SNL feeling like a comforting place to be for them during a time of chaos
i'm pretty concerned about pete and kate being the only ones out of everyone going having the majorly successful long-term careers. sadly can't see aidy or kyle reaching so much as bill hader status, but i'll be glad to be proven wrong
Kate is not a good actress. Pretty sure everything she's had ever had a major role in so far has bombed. Don't think an acting career is going to pan out for her. I can see her getting a daytime talk show or hosting a reality show or something though. I see her having a post-SNL career trajectory similar to Fallon. oh god now i'm thinking what if they give her the Late Late Show?
I 100% believe Kenan is being groomed to eventually take over for Lorne and will be working on SNL into his 70's.
I can never in a million years see Kate just be herself in a talk show or whatever. The same reason it would be absurd for someone like Fred Armisen or Kristin Wiig to do that - she loves being in character way too much. Are you sure you're thinking of the right Kate McKinnon Also comedy films are really not a good metric since as a whole they are an effectively dead genre at this point. Every big comedic actor just does tv shows now.
I would have been surprised if Pete didn't leave, he basically already left before this season. No big loss there Aidy and Kate I thought were going to leave before this season, and I'm surprised that Kyle stuck around when Beck left, especially since he barely even really does anything that feels "him" anymore on the show. I guess I'm saying none of these are surprising, but Aidy and Kyle will definitely be missed, I love both of them I'm glad Cecily is still sticking around (as of now), I know she's been there forever but she's just so incredible that I wouldn't mind if she pulled a Kenan and never left. Wouldn't be surprised if she makes an announcement too though
I wonder if Aristotle will be let go or if they'll give him another shot, he started out pretty promising with the Angelo character but pretty quickly became the typical new cast member that gets absolutely no screen time. Also wouldn't be surprised if Melissa left like Sasheer Zamata did, just kinda quietly after a few years of not getting much to do I think the stars of the show will now be Chloe, Chris, Ego, Heidi and Bowen, with Mikey and Alex serving as their reliable but underrated co-stars (Sarah and JAJ seem to have bright futures too, and Dismukes really came into his own this season, but they're still featured for now). That seems like a very promising new era to me
I was just re-watching back home ballers and the other one - those were so funny with aidy, cicely, et al....
On the topic of how people's post-SNL careers are going has anyone checked out Vanessa Bayer's new Showtime series yet?
I hope they don’t hire anyone new, the cast is too big. Losing four people is necessary. Honestly they could stand to lose more than four.
