I'm really bummed that Beck of all people is the only one leaving, he's so fucking good. The rare cast member that's incredible as both the straight-man and the absurd character. I think he's going to be like Sudeikis where people don't realize how good he was until he's gone. Sucks that Lauren never really got a chance but I'm not too torn up about her exit As much as I love the Cecily/Aidy/Kate trio it's very strange to me that they're still staying. I love Cecily the most so I have zero problem with her staying forever like Kenan if she wants to but the latter two didn't even really seem that invested in the last season
I don't know if it was covered earlier, but the rumor is that Lorne is/was trying to get this cast to stay through Season 50. I'm not sure if that means that's when Lorne walks away, but, yeah. (And the rumor for a few years has been that Kenan was being groomed to take over for Lorne, which while kinda crazy is kinda awesome?)
It’s surreal that he’s still on the show. I remember I was in college when news broke that he was joining the cast and I was “good for him, I grew up with him on All That.”
As far as I can recall, Kenan is like, one of the very few cast member additions over the past 20 years that was pretty well known prior to joining. Am I wrong about that?
Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Michael Hall were pretty big stars when they joined SNL. But we don't speak of those years.
I can't see Kate, Pete, Cecily and Aidy sticking around for three more years, unless the more flexible schedule allows them to pursue more movies and shows while doing SNL part time. But I have to think they'd be asking for pretty decent pay bumps to keep them around and just anecdotally, someone like Pete seems really checked out from the process.
Chris Redd was in Popstar before he joined. But obviously nowhere near as famous as Kenan was before he joined.
If he did, I must have missed it. I just remember seeing him in Popstar, then that summer it was announced he was joining SNL and I was stoked because he was so funny in Popstar, but when the season started he wasn't in the cast. I was confused and also bummed. But then the following year he joined the show. Really weird situation.
I can't find anything about it but I'm certain there was and that it just got cancelled as soon as he joined SNL maybe not though lol
