It's tough to say, especially this year when there are no metrics to say how many people watched something. Sudeikis isn't a big name like Will Ferrell, but he did star in several comedies that made over $100 million (It's insane "We're The Millers" made $200+ million). So I'd say he's at least a recognizable draw.
Bobby Moynihan left the show cuz his sitcom got picked up. It lasted 4 episodes I think then got canceled
this is crazy to me. It made over $60mil more than Horrible Bosses, which I remember everyone loving, but I don’t know anyone who cared about We’re the Millers until that “wait you guys are getting paid?” line became a meme a while ago
It's definitely better than Horrible Bosses, which treats Charlie Day's workplace sexual harassment as a mere joke
yeah I don't think the Carey/Sandler era or Ferrell/ Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson era of comedy is ever going to happen again, the best option seems to be doing your own passion project like Hader and Armisen did
it's a bit nebulous since they don't release actual numbers but it's the biggest show the service has, and they have shows with chris evans, reese witherspoon, jennifer anniston, steve carrell, and one made by m night shyamalan. have seen promo pretty much everywhere for it, too.
The reason why there aren’t a lot of Hollywood-produced comedies (pre-Covid) is cuz so much is riding on revenue from foreign markets. They love super hero and action movies. American comedies don’t translate as well.
Place your bets on which former members of SNL are going to join Kristen Wiig on the show? Could Fred, Bill Hader, Seth or Andy all come back?
In non-COVID times I would guess all of these, but there's been noticeably few random cameos this season so far besides the ones playing the candidates so I'm not too sure
Good on Carrey for just having some fun with it and getting out. Agree that they should just have a cast member do it. I feel like Moffat would be great
