And I wonder how much the head writing affects the sketches. Like there's no way every single writer is as bad at writing endings as the ones we've been given the last season or two.

 

From everything I've heard they just never work together, they write in like small groups and if the sketch they come up with is bad that's better for getting more on for your small group. If you help them fix a bad ending its just making it less likely for your idea to get screentime. Not helping people in incentivized, and leads to weak or middle of the road sketches, or good ideas without fully fleshed out endings to make them into great ideas.

Anyway, this sketch has a perfect ending and I think about it a lot.

God Key and Peele were so so so good. I hate that they hung it up.

Great episode, clearly. But that Shark Tank sketh felt so out of place with the rest of the writing and concepts of all the other sketches. Plus it got a big yikes for making the Kraft story "haha he got a happy ending" instead of it being about yknow, actual sex trafficking victims. It felt in line with Jost's bad takes about Amazon on WU.

With that all said I love Mulaney, i love Bill Hader, and was consisting cracking up. Colin Jost sucks.

I've watched What's That Name so many times. Mulaney's voice when he's guessing "_ara" kills me

Is there an alternate universe where Hader and Mulaney are permanent cast

 

I'm sure he doesn't but I really hope Lorne feels like an idiot every day for not realizing what he had with Mulaney while he was there.

 

We would have never gotten Oh Hello or his other work I think

 

Oh no I’m not saying the world would be better off, I’m just saying Lorne should feel like an idiot

 

Umm, Lorne helped him get his own sitcom that everybody loves

 

I always forget how awful that show was, Lorne was right, Mulaney was bad

 

I was so sad that show turned out to not be good. Such a waste of Mulaney, Nasim Pedrad, and Martin Short. One of the biggest TV disappointments of the last several years.

this part of the sketch is the closest we get to a Stefon moment - gotta think at 3:34 that's a cue card Mulaney wrote that Hader hasn't seen yet haha that smirk at the end

 

Yeah it definitely seemed like he either hadn't seen the card about The Squad yet or he just thinks the joke is as funny as we all did and reacted accordingly lol. He definitely had to take a second to keep himself from breaking.
