I’ve been mostly super underwhelmed with the hosts/musical guests this season.

 

Anderson and Maggie are the only two I’ve been particularly excited about. Thought Halsey’s was cool a couple weeks ago too. Otherwise yeah, haven’t really been about it

 

Cheadle's episode is the only one this season I would classify as good all the way through. But even then, it had a really weak Update with more Jost bootlicking so idk. They need to clean house in that writers room and Jost needs to be demoted again. I cannot for the life of me fathom why they gave him the job back after Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider left.

 

Matt Damon was great. I’m super excited for Mulaney.

 

I'm excited to see Idris! I think he could be great.

 

As long as they let Mulaney take over the writers room again like he did last year, his episode should be great. Idris is such a star in every sense of the word that his just natural charisma and greatness should lift the material in his episode to some degree. As a result, I'm anticipating both episodes despite the show's recent track record.

 

Pete Davidson Kicks Out Show Heckler Over Mac Miller Mention

 

Real funny to use someone’s tragic suicide as a heckle. Scum.

 

Should have kept his money and donated the equivalent to a mental health organization or something. This is actually one of the first times Pete has really impressed me.

 

I listened to Pete's album SMD for the first time last week and I was consistently laughing my ass off. I am reading David Spade's memoir (I am a sucker for anything SNL-related/the experience of being on it) and I see correlations between Pete and David. Both are comics who, ultimately, are not good sketch performers/writers, but shine when they can monologue on Update and be more themselves.

 

Cake sketch was so great haha. Gary is also the best musical guest in quite a while.

 

I really like this new style of promo they have now but this was the funniest one yet. Could almost be in the show itself

Not to be that guy but it wasn't exactly an intentional suicide...

Have you read the book Live From New York? It's fucking amazing and if you haven't it's probably exactly what you're looking for
