They also have had Tina Fey/Amy Poehler host and Nick Lachey/Jessica Simpson. The latter was not good but who's surprised about that
Michael Phelps was the breakout star of the 2008 Olympics and hosted the season premiere soon after. He was terrible. My initial thought was, "Mike, don't quit your day job." Can't say how Simone Biles & Co. would do but athletes don't have the best track record on SNL I think the Rock is the exception to the rule as he got his start in the WWE, which requires a level of acting talents. I know professional wrestling is partially fake but still involves a ton of physical abilities. But I think the Rock had a natural knack for being charming and funny so it's no surprise he was able to turn that to a successful movie/TV career.
There's been only a few decent athlete hosts: Peyton and Eli Manning, The Rock, some of Joe Montana and Michael Jordan. Others have been monumentally awful like Michael Phelps.
Not sure I ever saw the Phelps episode. Now I kind of want to. I hope they get Tom Hanks to host this season. Ryan Gosling would be cool, too.
I know it's cliche at this point but I'm really hoping for another Timberlake episode, it's been 3 years since he hosted now
Hamm or Galifianakis seem likely because of "Keeping Up With The Joneses." Timberlake seems really likely because he'll be promoting "Trolls."
Fantastic. I'm kind of glad she didn't make the cast, as I assume her talents would have gone to waste.
I feel that way pretty much anytime someone doesn't get SNL then gets another gig 32 Famous People Rejected by Saturday Night Live
Not yet, gotta be soon though I think they usually start late September which is a couple of weeks, they were asking for host and guest suggestions on Twitter this week
