So I’m not super familiar with the background of the origins of the show. I thought this was very enjoyable. Constant chaos the whole time. A few moments of inflated self-importance but overall I really liked it. Also the Jim Henson tweet from the last page is wildly overdramatic.
Yeah, I had a great time. Most of the performances are very solid. Lots of laughs. Didn’t like how rosy it got with the supposed rebel genius of Lorne and everyone being very lovey-dovey at the end, but it is what it is. Good stuff. Genuinely don’t know what Vikram is talking about and again, those Henson sketches were very uncool/dogshit.
How much screentime does Michael O'Donoghue get? He's a really fascinating person and I hope it's more than like a brief cameo, especially for how important he was to the first season
Thought this was good not great. I think I would have liked a movie about the month or so leading up to the first episode and not just 90 minutes before the first episode.
Took me a bit to get used to the impressions but really enjoyed it once I did. Aykroyd and O’Donohue were the highlights for me.
I went and watched the very first SNL episode and jesus Christ it was bad. I also can’t really imagine it actually being *that* hectic given that most of the ep is either multiple lengthy stand-up monologues, one of the multiple musicians performing, or the Jim Henson muppet sketch that moves at a glacial pace. The actual main cast is simply not much of a presence on-screen
Chevy said a few weeks ago that the actual opening night was very calm haha But yes, the first episode is interesting. Notably, most of the commercials are like the softest satire you can imagine.
