"Your boys"...so you're gatekeeping now? Jesse loves Saosin. Probably likes Phil too. Better take that up with him. Send him a Dm and let him know how disappointed you are.

    Neither are you.

Not trying to "be cool" man. I say what I say. If you agree with it, fine. If not, don't fucking care.

What is that supposed to mean...??

I was out protesting ICE in February when it was 2* outside. I was part of the crowd outside City Hall that made Jake Lang cry and piss his pants. But I'm not "nice" on a message board, so that means.....what?

To be fair… Phil did leave AILD a couple years ago and distanced himself from the band pretty significantly. I agree that I question the judgment of him and the rest of the guys for rejoining the band in the first place, but personally I don’t think that makes him equivalent to Tim or means he shouldn’t be able to have a career with other bands now. He’s crushing it in Saosin based on what we’ve seen so far.

I disagree with how hostile that other user is being, but I do think the other side of the argument is getting a bit extreme also. Personally I think Phil distanced himself from the person who actually did the heinous acts in question and is no longer associated with the band, so there’s not much more we can ask of him at this point.

I’m not trying to criticize Phil. It’s definitely a tough situation and I can see all viewpoints of how people feel about his past decisions/involvement with the band. I personally think rejoining AILD even after Tim served his time is gross, but I also understand the financial implications of that decision and needing to feed your family. It is what it is.

However, I completely disagree with telling other people that they are being too critical if they are uncomfortable with his involvement with Saosin. It should be pretty easy to see how his support of an abuser would rub some people the wrong way especially if they have a history of being abused. Even if you disagree with people, you should respect their viewpoints and not be agressive asshat like this user.

I think it's everyone's right to decide where to draw the line, and if forgiving an attempted murder is that line, that's not an unreasonable stance to take.

I get that Phil wanted to give Tim a second chance, and I realize all the layers under that decision. Yes, everyone is allowed to get a second chance from those willing to give it; no, they shouldn't be allowed to reclaim their platform; yes, it's easy to forgive when you weren't the actual victim; etc. etc.

And in the end, Phil got suckered, and he did make the right decision in the end, and it's okay for someone to decide that's not enough. No one is guaranteed forgiveness.

Me, personally, I will enjoy new Saosin, and I'm on the side of thinking Phil took a gamble and lost, and he has to live with that decision, but I'm not going to personally hold that against him. Others will, and that's fine.

Perfectly said. Let’s also not forget Phil only left after videos surfaced of Tim abusing his partner as well as his animals. I’m not going to give the dude any kudos for making that decision.

Phil joining again after Tim got out is always going to be suuuuuuper gross and always get a side eye from me

I'm also glad he did finally have some semblance of any fuckin sense and left

  25. Just generalizing but you know, if you see someone vent their frustrations about musicians they respect or even look up to being comfortable having someone with a questionable background (whether through something they did themselves or through being associated with someone who did so, which was Phil's case wrt Tim Lambesis)... and you first instinct is to belittle that user, indulge in some reactionary behavior, I'm just going to think you're not actually here to have a conversation in good faith. You're just looking for an opportunity to be an asshole lol

It would be cool for this forum to be a safe place to be able to simply say "hey that guy, who recently was still playing with a fucking multiple times abuser who tried to have one of his ex-wives killed, did the predictable move of using Christianity to showcase to his audience he had changed, yet went at it again by strangling another ex-wife (and it's on tape!), and it irks me that's he's part of Saosin etc."

If it bothers you that much that some of us want to have that conversation, maybe that's something worth examining on your side. Otherwise, just scroll and throw your manbaby tantrums away from us lol
