    Mary Varvaris interviewed Saosin:

Oh, man, at the very beginning, it was like the wild, wild west. For bands like us, it was huge. You mentioned AbsolutePunk – that was one of the things where it was like being on a billboard in Times Square. People would go to AbsolutePunk to find out about cool music, at least at that point in time, right?

It was like, you either had to have an older sibling in high school, who was super cool and knew about all the cool bands. Or you had to know somebody that worked at an independent record shop, and they could get the cool music for you. Or you had to scour the internet and find someone who had really good taste in music, or a website, like AbsolutePunk where people could recommend things that were kind of cool, and you can trust the reviews.

I do not understand why they won't play S/T stuff with Anthony. Bands perform songs from when they had a different singer all. the time.

maybe like 4 years back Cove took my burrito order at Señor Grubbies. At the time, I'm pretty sure he was the manager there.

Cove: "Hey man, what can I get you?"

Me: "Hey man, I'll take a veggie burrito.....wait...are you Cove Reber?"

Cove: "Nahhhhh" with smile on his face.

Me: "Yeah right! I knew it was you...I'm a huge fan!"

Cove: "I'm not this Cove guy, but thanks man! I'll get your order right out!"

    What a rockstar!

What about In Search of Solid Ground though! That originally had completely different artwork. I remember it getting posted on AP.net and it was absolutely roasted so much that they changed it haha.

Aside from a few songs, yeah it was definitely a disappointment after their stellar self-titled album. I remember listening at the time and wondering why on earth they decided to go with the 'raw' Cove voice over the studio finish they did for the self-titled. Yeah it was more closer to his live voice but that wasn't great... I did get the chance to see them with Alexis back in the 00s and he sounded pretty bad.

Fair critiques. Frankly, I just thought it was a really boring album. To that point they had released up-tempo, melodic yet technical post-hardcore that was such an exciting listen. That album dialed everything back, with a host of mid-tempo songs that blended together and didn't have huge hooks or thrilling technical musicianship.

Love ISOSG, but it is flawed. The song sequencing is god awful.
