Ah that makes sense. I know they’re touring it with Coheed for an anniversary. That’s disappointing. I just re visited it recently and it holds up so good. Songs like Just a Phase and Are You In? have a very specific late 90’s/early 00’s vibe to them that I love. Not sure it’s necessary to re imagine them.

 

Justin is currently suing the band over royalties. Seems like that would affect this re-recording, since the main intention of the band is to make profit from it. Seems messy

I think that misses the point I was making.

I don't claim to know exactly what the band was thinking, but Incubus, like Saosin here, mentioned rights.

I'm sure they do find fun in reinterpreting the songs after so long and seeing what the fans think, but I'm equally sure it's also about the long term benefits of being able to put "Warning" or "Nice To Know You" in something without going through Epic or Sony.

I'm gonna be so upset if this Self Titled vinyl repress is just the re-recorded version, ha.

 

Yeah this is what FYS had to do with Enemy of the World in order to get it pressed on vinyl... Kind of hope that's not the same case here.

 

I thought he simply took them out and either did his own or just literally removed them.

 

yah and i never bothered listening to the new versions. cool for them to get it on wax but i dont care, im so used to the OG recordings..

 

I’m not a fan of re-recordings. Even if it sounds better, there’s magic lost that the original recordings had, and it sounds sterile by comparison to me. That’s just me though.

He was Supervising a pizzeria in San Diego for years til the musical machine started back up. Love to see him back in it!

 

I definitely agree that re-recordings are rarely interesting or good, but as an artist it is so important to control your music and be able to earn a living off of it in this capitalist hellscape. I bought FYS' re-recording of EotW even though it is mostly inferior (there are some cool changes though!) and I would definitely consider buying this re-recording to support Saosin, even if I prefer the original.

Ant is there two days after, but it's funny that they don't say. Does that mean it's Anthony? Or does that mean it's Cove? Keeping us on our toes.

 

Either Justin is super hard to work with or everyone else is the problem. Kind of crazy how he ended so messily with both bands.

 

Anthony only posted that he’s performing with Dunes, so Cove is probably a safe bet

 

Cove shared this same post on his insta with Saosin music in the background so im betting Cove will be doing this one. When AG shared it, it was LSD related.
