Pretty sure Tillian never even met them in person. He auditioned by recording over a demo that was sent to him. They never worked with anyone, it was just auditions
I mean that’s fine, you don’t have to. I don’t have an official Saosin singer tally hanging on my wall. Yes, they’ve made records with two singers, but I feel like back then there was always rumors swirling about who they were working with next. it’s all to say that in years past, Saosin kinda seemed to be a bunch of assholes, and I don’t think Cove gets the fair shake from some of the fan-base on that whole situation. Obviously things are better now and I’m glad for that. But again, he was a kid. To talk to and about him the way they did, never really sat right with me.
It's weird to hear Cove referred to as having been "just a kid" when half the band wasn't much older than he was.
Tilian did meet up with them at least once to audition/jam. I know there’s that demo he did with Chris that was leaked, but they also gave him some leftover instrumental tracks from the ISOSG sessions, one of which the band shared in some capacity with fans (Promises) in early 2011. I guess the other one (Exfoliator) was leaked sometime along the way. Communication between the band and Tilian started to fizzle out as 2011 progressed because, according to Justin, half the band was interested in moving forward with him and half the band was not. Justin was one of the two who was not. The only reason I know any of that is because Justin would still regularly post on the Saoboard back in the day and he/the band kept getting questions about what was up with Tilian so he finally spoke up about it and nothing came of it. This was also around the time members of the band were talking with Anthony again about doing Saosin together though.
To my knowledge, Tilian was the closest they came to having another singer. I think they said they were in talks with other people, but I don’t think things ever got as far as they did with Tilian with them, which, admittedly, didn’t get very far aside from a few demos with him being leaked/released
Two singers for the albums, but they did have multiple other interactions with people either audtioning, filling-in etc., thus a real chance to have situations where they could act in a certain way towards the people they could work with or not. Albeit, I don't need to dig into that any further, but let's not pretend like we know anything for sure. There seems to be a lot of things handled badly in their whole run, but I'm not looking for a chance to point fingers or whatever.
I mean the whole suggestion here is that the band are difficult because they’ve had multiple vocalists? But not moving forward with Tillian was their choice, not his. So I’m not sure that makes them difficult. Just picky. And from what I remember they were right not to go with him anyway. The Justin stuff I would imagine you just write off given he got kicked out of The Used too. Not saying Bert and Jeph aren’t difficult but yeah.
Not trying to start stuff, but y’all are being kind of nitpicky when the guitarist for AILD is touring with them. From what I can tell, he’s still in AILD, which means he’s cool with Tim to an extent. I’m not sure how I feel about it, but it’s worth considering.
I had no idea about that, wtf. How are they still a band after he went to prison for hiring a hitman to murder his ex-wife and mother of his kids? That’s genuinely messed up that Phil would carry on with him in the band. My comment was mostly musically, as I thought Tillian didn’t fit, and AG came back so it was good they didn’t progress with him.
Because he did his time in prison and then got early for good behavior I think. Still a hard pill to swallow, but at least compared to most times band dudes that did something wrong, at least he had consequences for his actions.
I don’t know about that. Isn’t it because what other typical band dickheads do is less serious in the eyes of the law? I mean he tried to get his wife murdered, no?
Less serious in the eyes of the law, yes, but I'm pretty sure it's been framed as a redemptive story for Tim and he's apologized and served his time, so I guess that's why they still have their platform. Not saying I agree, just that that's why they're still here.
If I remember correctly, Tilian was also auditioning and did a few demos with Emarosa at around the same time too, which he also didn't fit in my opinion so I'm glad neither band went ahead with him... especially due to fairly recent situations that have occurred with him.
