They wanted to play the covers because that's what they wanted to do. I don't think it was about what they thought the crowd would prefer.. Especially given they didn't even have a proper vocalist for some of the covers, as neither Cove or Anthony wanted to lol (their words, not mine). I personally thought it was cool.
Sometimes it seems like they are in an awkward spot where their singers seem like “touring” members and not part of the “core” band.
Couple of questions: Are all of these 20 Year shows having both Cove and Anthony? Wish it was near me because I'd love to see both dudes (even though Cove does seem to struggle) I heard they are planning a new album for 2024. Do we think that's with just Anthony on vox? I had heard a rumor that a Self-Titled vinyl repress was in the works but haven't heard a thing about it in a while, has anyone else?
They've been added to Swanfest Boo!! Shame to the other bands too. I know the others wouldn't exist without Dance Gavin Dance but still...
Isn't this kind of fucking crazy? Cue the AG leaving again rumours etc. What other band could do this haha. And what is the story behind the tour where they advertised songs from all eras, and didn't play. I guess we'll never know but you have to wonder if Anthony is going to be on the next album or not now? They were waiting for him for ages to record vocals, and I believe it was next year he was expected to?
It's definitely crazy, but if I understand correctly.... there are still some shows with Anthony coming up, like a few festivals? So it doesn't seem like he is out of the band. My guess is that the rest of the band wants to be able to tour even when Anthony is busy with one of his million other projects, so they are like.... Cove, you wanna come? haha
They should just keep both. Even on the next album have some Cove songs, some Anthony. Maybe even get them both on a track together. Why not eh?
I’m guessing Anthony and Cove have no ownership of “Saosin”. This makes me think Anthony has been a hired gun since rejoining and they have no true permanent singer.
I hope for the sake of the other Sao guys that this results in something more full-time. I know Beau isn't exactly short on things to do, but you can tell how much Sao means to them still, and the energy they seem to put in. Would be good to see them fully mobilised and making music regularly again.
Yeah, I remember that reunion album being pretty neat (but kinda wishing it took a couple bigger swings with some of the songs). Haven’t kept up with Saosin in forever but wouldn’t mind a hypothetical album like that.
Would be pretty cool to discuss in 2037 how many post-hiatus Anthony v Cove Saosin shows we’ve all seen lol
I haven't checked if they tour regularly and they don't seem to write new stuff anymore but isn't it a similar situation to Further Seems Forever as well?
