I mean, Anthony left the band in the first place right before their peak, so I don't know if I'd exactly paint him as their saviour haha. But yeah, they seemed to be in the wilderness and didn't appear to want Tillian. Either way I'm not saying he should or has to. Just saying it's a shame. For sure Chris & Beau will be happy to be playing with Sao.
I'm not saying anything wild here. Just because Anthony says something, doesn't mean the rest of the band disagrees with it. You realize that Beau and/or Chris playing songs by themselves that they wrote with the band.... is normal, and doesn't mean they would want to play them at an Anthony-fronted Saosin show.
Bold...but sort of agree. I've said it before. TTN is iconic (in the scene), but S/T is a fucking wild ride of an album.
That record’s sound is chock full of urgency. Alex’s drumming is insane from start to finish. The mix is amazing. The riffs whip ass. And cove, though bad live, soars on this fucking thing. The ending of “It’s far better to learn” in and of itself is wild.
The production/mix works for the album, but I definitely cringe listening to vocals at times when I know there’s a note Cove absolutely could not hit (chorus of It’s So Simple, outro of Voices).
I love a lot of the Anthony songs (Shadow is half killer half filler though IMO) so it’s not like I think Cove is a much better singer but the songs as a whole are stronger on S/T than TTN/ATS in my eyes.
I really enjoy half of ISOSG where as I love almost everything on S/T.. It’s not better than Anthony’s material but Secrets, On My Own, The Alarming Sound.., Is This Real, and Fireflies are underrated gems none the less IMO.
I really wish they swapped out I Never Wanted To with that track. It feels more like a bside anyways.
