I’m guessing it’s because people would be complaining about the past shows which were also advertised as “catalog-spanning” tbh

 

Thought this was kind weird/funny. Seems like Anthony actually doesn't want to perform Cove songs, and you'd have to assume that's the reason it didn't happen on the tour they advertised it on.

 

I feel like he needs to communicate this to whoever does the band’s social media posts lol because even the recent one for the June 17th show called it a “career spanning” set…

 

maybe it was just a good troll job

 

So Anthony decided last minute he didn't want to perform those songs, or whoever promoted the tour just assumed they would play them. Either way the band should have made a statement clarifing that which I'm pretty sure they never did.

 

Must suck to be beholden to this guy’s ego. It’s not like he already screwed these guys over before.

 

I’m not an Anthony hater but it does feel a bit shit to stop them playing old songs when you get the feeling they want to. Beau practiced old Sao songs on his stream, so he obviously likes playing them, and given they played Voices in earlier shows suggests they’re not wanting to get rid.

As an TTN fan first I can live with it, but if you’re someone who got into them after that then it must be quite annoying. There are some great tracks there, and a lot of them better than anything on Along The Shadow.

 

I mean Anthony has said many times he likes to play newer music that he was inspired to make live. I doubt he ever agreed in the first place to play those other songs, also doubt it’s his job to monitor saosin’s marketing and social media presence. The dudes super busy with a lot of projects… this site loved to assume the worst of everyone lol.

 

Not trying to pick holes but not sure “newer” music is relevant given they’re literally playing TTN shows right now..

 

But also plenty of stuff from along the shadow.

 

And nothing from the other albums. What’s your point? Lol

 

Simple choice to not play the songs someone wasn't a part of and definitely has got a right to make their own mind. Would be cool to see Anthony's versions of some of the songs, but also quite annoying to then follow the whole debate who's the better singer for them again.

 

Imagine not wanting to sing Voices. I belt that shit in the shower *for free*.

 

I couldn’t care less that he doesn’t want to play Cove songs again. Solo shows aside, Anthony has been very upfront about not being interested in playing songs others wrote. Circa rarely played covers live and, correct me if I’m wrong, Voice is the only Saosin song Anthony has done with them on what I’m sure were just a handful of shows.

I love the S/T, but I’m very okay with him not playing those songs and it seems like something that their marketing should get a hold on for clear messaging in the future.

Plus, haven’t they been writing new songs over the years? Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re playing TTN, Mookies, I Can Tell, some ATS songs and a couple new ones. They played a couple mew songs when I saw them in 2014 for their first show back with Anthony.

I mean he did say "not playing songs I didn’t write with the band so sorry if that’s what your craving, hope you can understand!", so I don't think it's a stretch here. Also I'm not sure anything has ever hinted at Beau or Chris not wanting to, particularly as they were the primary song-writers of it all, and that Beau still plays some of the songs on his stream etc. Alex doesn't have that much influence in Sao, and Phil is just a touring member.

I'm just commenting on the situation. I'm not saying they should do x or y. Just that it's a shame that it seems to be Anthony not wanting to, as he was always positive about Cove-era songs.

 

This doesn't really mean anything, you have no idea what Beau or Chris want to play at these shows. It's all just assumptions

 

You can be positive about songs and enjoy them and not feel like playing them. I’m sure Anthony enjoys those songs, but he just doesn’t want to play something he didn’t write and that’s okay. Sucks their marketing team were advertising like they would though.

I’m hardly taking a leap here. Beau is all over Sao stuff, and like I said on his Twitch stream, before the tour in Aus etc he even played old songs. I wouldn’t be surprised if Beau knew what the poster said before the tour.

I’m literally discussing it and it really isn’t the leap you’re suggesting.

 

Wasn’t this band basically gonna break up because they couldn’t find a vocalist before Anthony decided to rejoin?

If Anthony doesn’t want to play Cove songs, I think Beau and Chris can deal with it since Anthony resurrected this band.
