I'm really starting to get hyped for this. Wasn't really into the second song released, but these other two are great.
Weird. I've never actually listened to that album but I still knew the name from the acronym. That's super unusual for me.
WOW. Really? I mean I like the song quite a bit also, but Anthony Green has released quite a bit of material since Blue Sky Noise. How have you not listened to Blue Sky Noise? Anthony's greatest lyrical + vocal achievement to date. Definitely give it a go when you get some time.
New song is pretty good. Which is how I feel about all three so far. And they are slowly growing on me. I have to admit, this is a case where deep down, I wish they'd release the kind of record they would've made immediately after TTN. I know it's 13 years later and they've matured and evolved and they're different people, but this is an unusual case where a ton of potential was never tapped into. I'm not even saying that these new songs do or don't fit that mold, but it's honestly the direction I hope the LP as a whole takes.
It's also a case where they haven't released any music in a very long time and the genre is dying/dead and the demographic is smaller
London was fucking incredible. I saw them at So What in Dallas last month and that was cool, but in a club venue it was just perfect. The new songs translate really well live, and Anthony's delivery was spot on. It's funny because some people were disappointed by the set list because of no Cove era, which to me is insane. I've been to almost 300 gigs now and I can safely say last night was in my top 10. The energy was unparalleled.
That's an awesome interview. So much honesty there, and this tidbit excited me too: We’re definitely looking for that, we just don’t know where it is yet because Circa is going to pick back up in November or December for a new record and then their new touring cycle, and so on and so forth.
Very excited for that as well. And Anthony's is almost done with a new solo album it seems, so much awesome
For sure. The crazy thing being that Chris said this was Anthony's year off from touring! Wondering if the Taste of Chaos tour + sideshows will be the only Anthony shows, barring the odd solo show. I.e. no more big tours this year. Also, cool/crazy to see that they are entertaining the idea of Cove songs. I honestly didn't think I'd get to properly enjoy Saosin again in the way we now can. It's awesome. I'm still on a high from the show the other night haha.
You love to say genres are dying or dead. Just because you don't listen to it, doesn't mean no one else does. Music is cyclical. Of course post hardcore isn't as popular in the mainstream as it was in 2003. I'd say there is a ton of hype and excitement for a band that hasn't dropped an album in 13 years with this lineup.
I know Saosin influenced a good deal of post hardcore bands, but what bands came before Saosin that were similar in sound? Did they become so well known from the TTN EP in 2003 because they basically created their own distinct sound? I've been wondering for awhile.
Hard to say that they came "first" but they came up with all of the other screamo bands from 2003 only difference was that they blended metal like riffs and drums with it.
