I've probably listened to TTN front to back 500 times, including plenty within the last year. It's fucking perfect. Fuck this talk of nostalgia or just blindly worshipping AG vox. For what they were going for, I don't know how anyone could've made a better 15 minutes of music.

 

Interesting to see the “best music ever created” takes which would contradict any “bands need to be in the same place to make music” takes … some fire being thrown in this thread.

I like ST a lot and loved it when i was 15 but AG with them has an entirely different energy. I don’t think can be debated.

i mean if we get 10 songs of TTN energy then it’s a whole different story. Surprised that point hasn’t been brought up already - this site is usually really good about recognizing EPs have their limits holding weight against their longer counterparts.

 

not when every song on the EP is considerably better than anything on the LP.

 

The self titled was the album that got me into this scene. The first time i heard “Voices” on the radio, it was like “what the hell is this?” I was 15 and didn’t know this kind of music existed.

 

remember the saosin vs. say-ocean drama/debates? Maybe there wasn't much debate outside my friend group lol.

To be clear, I meant strictly the final result... and "Beau couldn't have created a better EP" would've been pretty accurate, too. I understand AG came in and laid down vox later, that doesn't detract from anything. He also recorded all his shit for ATS remotely.

 

The Postal Service also makes any “bands need to be in the same place to make music” takes look dumb.

 

Why, were they always in the same room when they made all those stinkers?

(seems there's no "new band" after all, so it goes down to 1 LP instead of 2 different ones, but that should be great!)

I wasn't saying he messed up, I was saying imagine if you were in that position and he called you over to sing the song but you didn't actually know the words lol

 

I've been listening to that song for 15 years and I'm not sure I know all of it either. Anthony's lyrics on the EP are wild.

 

it's probably my favourite song ever but i've heard a few different live versions over the years so i'm used to "i'm sorry, i'm sorry i'm not yours" now.
