Anthony's take is the correct one. All their albums are at least "good." And three of them are great.
I truly cannot understand the hate towards self titled. Is it just because people don't like Cove's vocals, despite sounding similar to tons of popular singers on this site?
Cove's vocals irk me at times on the album when the vocals are obviously way too high (It's So Simple and Voices come to mind specifically), but the album overall is so tight
not bad. just boring for me. they genre shifted to something that was pretty conventional alt rock. wasnt what i was looking for. the 2 best tracks were already released as demos before the album came out. it had nothing to do with cove for me.
You're Not Alone is by far my least favorite thing this band has ever released, that chorus is so grating and it's the kind of cheesy I just hate, and I listen to a LOT of cheesy shit
You’re Not Alone is a skip for sure, but that album is banger after banger apart from that. (I also dislike Finding Home)
The first time I heard Bury Your Head I lost my fucking mind. I couldn’t listen to anything else for weeks. Perfect song.
BLINK IF YOU HEAR OUR SIGNAL OUR HANDS DRIP WET WITH BLOOD FROM CLAPPING WHEN YOU HEAR THE COMMAND THE SPARROW ATE OUR BREAD TRAILS GO EAST ALONG THE SHADOWED MOUNTAIN SIDE IF YOU WANNA STAY ALIVE
How that and drinking from the fountain didn’t make the standard LP is one of the strangest things to me.
Takes incoming: -did not know people existed that didn’t adore s/t until this thread recently started picking up lol. The vocals are fine for the scene and the record is largely hit after hit. Surprised more aren’t vouching for Sleepers! -you’re not alone and voices are dreadfully boring songs though, especially the former -ISOSG is both underwhelming and underrated. There are plenty of strong entrants to their discog there. -AG’s vox on TTN are near the tippy top of the most iconic in the scene. Probably gives the EP the edge over s/t but cannot understate how strong most of the songs are
TTN only has an EDGE over s/t? You’re right, that’s a take ha. I’ve said it before, but I can easily picture myself as an 80 year old man years down the road, throwing in translating the name and STILL thinking “these five songs are among the most badass songs I’ve ever heard.”
