I'm so excited for that tornado song to get a proper release. It was teased in a video on his ig a while ago and it sounded so fucking good.
I still haven't given the 2nd Cove album/Clocks record a shot. I tried a few times, but just gave up. Maybe it was knowing the history of the label push for studio musicians to help write the album. Guess I'll give it another shot today.
IMHO - the second half of this album is Cove's best work with them. It definitely feels different than other SAO but I think it's really great all around. Slower but fits really well.
It has a lot of filler in it but it’s hardly as bad as people make it out to be IMO Secrets Safe, Deep Down, Changing, On My Own, The Alarming Sound…, Is This Real?, and Fireflies are all great tracks if you ask me. The rest is filler for sure.
It's funny my favourites on there aren't on your list haha. I think even the best songs on there are significantly worse than anything on the selftitled. Comparing it to TTN isn't even fair lol.
The takes in here are wild...but I'll take Saosin talk over Saosin silence. TTN is an iconic EP, but vocals aside, Self Titled takes the cake.
I want to say On My Own had a demo from way back pre-S/T, maybe even from the Anthony era. Rippin musical track. Record is so jarring as they waffle between great riffage the band actually wrote when they were hungry and phoned in bullshit vomited out by producers.
TTN > ATTS = Beetle/Black EP >...........ISOSG/Grey EP Hoping whatever the new one is more trimmed down and stays "heavy" and doesn't encroach on anything circa sounding
1 minute in right now...this is great! I know Cove has a history of being rough live...but he pops on albums.
I would agree with this. TTN is awesome and a classic but it’s also fueled by nostalgia and not the actual recordings at hand which are rough in some spots.
I will agree that everyone should check out Dead American’s New Nostalgia. Cove and co. really did a stellar job and I love almost every track on it. Absolutely worth a spin and then some!
I have way more nostalgia attached to the self-titled actually but that's fallen off hard for me and TTN is some of the best music I've ever heard so I disagree with your theory.
