I find it weird how the band kicked out Cove for poor live vocals. Like, I love Anthony and Circa a lot, but he's not exactly the greatest live singer I've ever heard, either. He can definitely be pitchy at times
Yep, this is my thought on the ST. a lot of the music is great but lyrics and voice don't work for me.
dont worry about him too much - hes glad he got to sing, write, and record songs with his heroes. man that sounds like copy pasta
Cove Reber (Ex-Saosin/Dead American) Here’s a cool episode from peer pleasure podcast (hosted by one of the ex members of Anatomy Of A Ghost - may god one day resurrect that band) featuring Cove
I'm still confused as to what he means, were there contributions that were straight up removed from the songs or did Beau rerecord all of Justin's written parts himself? I'm wondering because if you look at the songs they started playing live in 2014, the guitars don't sound really different to the studio versions (Ideology Is Theft aside).
From justin's interview on Peer Pleasure (pod comes up twice on one page!) - he said they just deleted all his parts and put the album out. I didn't know they played any of these new AG songs prior to the album being out with Justin in the band. Would be cool to see those videos though if they did.
I was excited to find this existed, and then I did a quick look in my iTunes and it turns out I already had them. Heh. If anyone wants the mp3s lemme know
He and Beau have said completely contradictory things since around the time of ATS and seem to have serious grudges. I'm torn on what to believe about Justin's writing contributions. It always seemed like he was the more technically proficient guitarist, but Beau claims he never wrote anything of major substance.
I’d delete Justin right from the entire history of the band. He seems pretty toxic. I haven’t heard much of/about him since the Used situation went down, so hopefully he got some help. He seems like a real fucking dick.
Jammed out on the Self Titled at the gym today - really brought me back to 2006-2007. Not a perfect album but a fun listen for sure.
Of course. But I think Justin himself has claimed he contributed a lot to the writing, so I'm just keeping an open mind. I think we can safely say Beau has always been the primary songwriter, since TTN started coming together before anyone else currently in the band joined. Just wondering whether Justin added some of the licks and flourishes that made things more interesting.
hes a pretty basic lyricist but you compare him to pretty much any other post-hardcore band from and hes leagues ahead. even if only for not being as gratuitously violent
I never had a problem with the lyrics, some of them are a bit awkward but nothing super cringey that I can remember
The problem is Cove and Chris’ lyrics don’t exist in an Intra-Band vacuum. While they’re pretty good compared to their contemporaries, they also had to compete with Anthony, whose lyrics were even at their worst extremely interesting.
i dont think ttn has very good lyrics. interesting, sure, but i dont think theyre particularly good haha
