Yeah, it's worth listening to for sure. He was pretty much as I'd imagined he'd be, but didn't expect him to be so open about the Saosin drama, particularly with his band supporting their show tomorrow. On one hand I feel bad, on the other I'm surprised he lasted so long in the band everytime I watch one of their live recordings, particularly the studio live ones.. For balance, he wasn't always sounding bad, but I don't know if there was any post-FX on his vocals in these vids:
Any reports on what went down? From what I can tell, Cove did You're Not Alone with them, and I can see he performed Seven Years with Anthony too?
That was cool. I used to listen to a mashup of both Anthony and Cove's versions of 3rd Measurement in C, which reminded me of that rendition of Seven Years.
Seeing this thread bumped got me to listen to this again for the first time since probably 2016. Still love some of these tracks.
Show last night was fun and a nice little nod to the Cove era. When Cove was up there it seemed like he was half happy to be there, half get me the fuck off this stage. After seeing Saosin twice this year I’m convinced their live mix is pretty bad. Really hard to make out the guitars at times.
The get me off stage part strikes me odd. It definitely seems like it was hard for him though when he was in the band. Listening to the lead singer syndrome podcadt he talked about when they were at the end of the tour cycle for the beatle record, they were kinda going their separate ways and being stoked they could tour that long on a record and someone in the band said basically “that was cool and everything, but it would have been better if we could actually have had a singer who could sing live” I also think it must be a weird like intersection of him being a fan of the band before joining, and then joining. He basically said saosin was his favorite band before joining and still is?
Honestly it's really nice to see Anthony and Cove having fun together, would have loved to be at any of the shows
I felt that was definitely the vibe during “You’re Not Alone.” Meanwhile, Anythony was having a blast playing bass on the song. Perhaps I misread his facial expressions, but it could have been possible he was trying to hold back his emotions. Cove said he had always wanted to do Seven Years with Anythony right before they started. Weird they would still be his favorite band after his departure haha
Yeah that performance was rough. As Shane Told said on the podcast, I don't get why the rest of the band never tried playing their catalogue half a step down to help Cove? Really, those two episodes just made me feel so bad, they were really hard on him at the time.
Didn't hear anything "cringy" either. The part about him not connecting with heavy music since his departure, equating that with the lack of vital anti-Trump bands and the social justice stuff was awkwardly said though, but nothing suspicious.
I feel like Cove was just really trying to nail those notes in Your Not Alone, I still think he was happy to be there. Definitely would’ve been cool to see. Glad they did something small with him.
From what I read too they were super rude to Tilian when he auditioned. So they have a knack for being dicks. Though with Tilians recent twitter behavior maybe it’s ok.
I remember reading or seeing something about them thinking he was really immature and young/the age difference between them. And probably fits in better with DGD guys
That was mainly what i noticed. Along with his typical SoCal mannerisms which caught me off guard, i don’t think i had ever heard him talk before lol
