Been listening to this album a bit since I’ll be going to the show on Thursday. First time seeing them with Anthony and first time seeing them since 2009
Show last night was insane. Always feels like a privilege to see Alex tear up the kit live. My ears are still ringing. He held various hands throughout the show last night too ha.
Shit I don't remember the actual time, but I know the first band started at like 8:20, then there was another opening band, so I'd say proabably 9:45ish? They went til past 11.
Super fun show, was kinda funny how we're all of the age that it was waaay more chill of a crowd than it would have been in 2003 haha
I went on Tues, and Less Art were the 2nd band. First band started at 8:20ish and went til like 8:45ish.
Here's a video of Less Art's set from the other night. Really wish they would come through Chicago some time, they're tight as fuck
The chorus of Stutter is just so money. Definitely a lasting favorite of mine from this. Maybe because it feels so Circa-y? idk
Listened to Peer Pleasure with Justin a couple weeks ago. He went into being kicked out of Saosin a little bit. I'll try to sum it up here. The Used called and asked if he wanted to fill in for them (temporarily). Beau was working with The Used at the time (as an engineer or something in the studio) and said it was fine with him. He was there the day Justin went and tried out. Justin called him after and asked how he did and Beau said he nailed it and they asked him to tour with them immediately. When they were in Japan or somewhere the Sao guys wanted to sign the contract and he said he would when he got back. They wanted him to sign a power of attorney thing so that they could sign it without him and he said it's no big deal I'll be back in a couple weeks to sign it. Beau called him and said they were moving forward without him. They deleted his guitar parts from the tracks and released it. He said he still has the demos with the his parts on them and it sucks that they will never be heard anyone. He had a lot of good things to say about everyone and said that he's happy it worked out the way it did.
I had a feeling it went like that, and it's pretty uncool, especially after so many years on a hiatus anyway.
They must have have retracked other lead parts then lol, I couldn’t imagine just cutting a ton of material
They probably had pressure from the label to sign the contract right then or the label was gonna back out, I don't know why they'd just kick him out for that otherwise
yeah, obviously, there's still riffs and leads so that's about it, but it would be interesting to hear the difference. Kinda doubt it. They could somehow go around it - they still have a touring guitarist with them and there's no problem in that. Also, if they had cared, they would have let Justin know that getting a lawyer agreement is as important as it can get, and not just come back with the news he's out. Obviously they're not really too good at handling these kind of situations, seeing how did they "part ways" with Tilian as well.
hehe, it didn't show up ;d ...it is strange and a little bit of a letdown, but I'm just happy we still have some new music from them!
It still makes me mad one of the Saosin members was apparently super rude to Tilian when he tried out.
Nah, Justin said that as soon as they started playing shows with Ant again in California Epitaph was there watching and said if they decide to release anything they want to be the ones. And that was years before the album even came out so it wasn't that. He also said Beau was always super emotional about everything and that day when he called it was like talking to a robot. He said he asked Chris if it would have happened if he hadn't taken the Used gig and Chris said, "100% no"
