So this is going to sound fucking ridiculous, but some drunken stupid decisions were made, and unfortunately I ended up missing the show. Still can’t believe this happened, ugh.
Alex is one of the most underrated drummers. Dude absolutely destroys and is super creative with fills.
You can't say that and then not tell us what was compelling enough to make you miss this show, drunk or not..sounds like a good story.
Eh not really, just got sick along with a friend in the Chain Reaction parking lot. It was not one of my finer nights to say the least.
I wanna go on the record and say Along The Shadow is my favorite thing Saosin has done. Cove was alright (on record) and I do not have an affinity for Translating The Name that most Saosin/AG fans have.
Along The Shadow is my favorite thing Anthony Green has done, by a wide margin...hold your fire, Circa Survive fans. What makes it your favorite?
I think it's their most creatively aggressive album. Yes, TTN and self-titled have some monster riffs, but the creativity on ATS is heads and shoulders above the rest of their discography. A lot of TTN and S-T have a more pop-punky feel, which is indicitive of the time they were written. Also, I think ATS has some of Anthony's catchiest vocal melodies and amazing screams.
man, even though I have seen this band with AG twice, whenever I imagine them it's always at Chain Reaction. I guess it's from all those years of watching those videos and thinking "damn, what if..." but there's just something so apposite about seeing them on that stage.
Spot on. You're right about the vocal melodies, they're infectious. 2 years later and "No one is divided by the vision in the snow. Impersonate yourself!"/"You can swim into the graves as easily as I" still pop into my head all the time.
The bridge to "Ideology Is Theft" is maybe my favorite AG vocal line and it's killer over the harmonius guitars.
AND YOU DECIDE HOW YOU MAKE IT! AND YOU DECIDE HOW IT'S GONNA BE! The odd off-measure guitars woven into these lines are just so great.
So they do play 'Voices' on those shows? ;d I can't play that twitter video, if there's something on youtube, please post! ;D
TTN > Along the Shadow > Saosin > In Search of Solid Ground from what I last remember when listening to them all
This ATS has some good stuff, but seems kinda crazy to call it AG's best work. I'm not in the camp that was super hard on it and saw it as a blatant money grab, but it isn't exactly oozing an excess of creativity and effort. I feel like a lot of the core riffs on S/T were great, and it probably could've been substantially better than ATS with Anthony (not only lyrics and vocal melodies, but perhaps pushing the songwriting in a slightly more experimental direction, too).
Came across this video from last night. So stoked for tonight. Does anyone happen to know the setlist?
