I hate to compare the two just because...but 'The Stutter Says a Lot' is the closest the album gets to Circa imo. But I love the song.
The stutter sounds like some serious early 2000s emo in my opinion.. I like the further seems forever comparison
Its just a well written song, but it def doesn't sound like anything the band has done before, neither does second guesses... I've recently opened up to 3rd wave emo and major keys lol so I think that's why I enjoy those songs
The bridge of stutter is what makes the song work for me personally, the 2 over 3 driving time is one of my favorite things in rock music and many bands don't do it, also the song just seems to be important to the record to keep the sound diverse
Always a race to keep you dragging on Until the currents change Our days it pays to keep from burning out You used to care Love this bridge so much
Oh, I do too. Along the Shadow of Man is definitely a *better* closer. I still like Control a lot, though.
This record is all about closure.. Accepting the choices you have made even if they maybe weren't always the right thing to do.. I think they tie this together with the art work a little bit.. You have to embrace yourself and the choices you have made in life to truly move on and be happy.. While I think this definitely has to do with Anthony leaving the band, them making amends 10 years after and then moving on, I also think it's just an over all feeling towards life.. This album really works with this in mind, hope this helps people embrace the record more.
This is really cool. I'm gonna re-listen to the album with this in mind (maybe when the iTunes version comes out in higher quality tomorrow night?) I definitely think more of the songs are about Anthony's departure than I first thought. The Silver String sounds like it, and the band confirmed that Racing Toward a Red Light is about it, and I hear scattered references to it in a bunch of the other songs. I hope the iTunes release comes with the lyrics.
Yes it's definitely about his departure but I think he Just used that as a reference point and built from there and it's kind of some bigger picture stuff, which is really cool.. Lyrically this seems like his best work since blue sky noise
"Stutter Says A Lot" isn't my favorite for sure, it is a well-written song, but I'd say a few riffs and songs like this one, kinda take away from the epicness the album could have as a whole with a more consistent musical theme (but maybe it's just me!). However, wanted to say that a moment in the melody of that chorus reminds me of Dallas Green's "Carry You Home" performed with Nashville Skyline ;d
