memes imitate life, life imitates memes. Beau will speak about writing and post riffs and then ghost mfs full stop and leave us high and dry. It's been going on for over a decade and it's part of the charm i guess. Beau is like a master at grifting off the nostalgia of saosin and i don't blame him at all. it's not even that cynical, it just is the reality of being in this band. they have to stay relevant without a singer. also, the elephant in the room is that saosin is notoriously one of the most toxic bands around. Now they got Phil in there which is just... it's fun to laugh but also important to keep in touch with reality. Saosin is far from a wholesome or "reliable" band, but who cares? the new riffs are riffing like they always do. Like it or not they are one of our generations' unstable and drama ridden metal bands like motley crue or megadeth or something lol. Obviously there are worse examples like DGD or ETID, but yano.
idk anything about saosin being toxic but that may just be because i dont pay attention at all. BUT i had wondered if the AILD past member had THAT baggage. no one seems to be talking about that.
Is Beau selling anything? I thought you had to sell something for there to be a grift. Yeah, Phil coming back to AILD after Tim got out of prison was... a choice... but so did almost every other member of AILD. I'm not totally sure what I would've done in that situation IF it was all my best friends wanting to do this again, but at least they figured out that yeah, Tim is still a horrible human being, and all left around the same time right? At most that would just make me question his judgment, nothing wholly malicious.
i recommend a deep dive on the lore. actually i don't, it's 2026. the new song is p good and cove did a lil' screamin' which was cool. just like everyone else, i just like to get ~in the mix~. i'm toxic af on here, so again, hold my hot take that saosin has a toxic past against me in the future and i'll join you in roasting me
I don't need to dive into the "lore"....aka....people just be sayin stupid shit. I've been a fan of this band since TTN. You're literally the first and only person I've ever heard in my life say this about them. So, I'll ask again. How are they "toxic?"
I'd say your take is about as cynical as it gets, but that's just me. There's definitely well-documented drama in this band both during the early Anthony days and some stuff with Justin toward the end of his and Cove's run, but I wouldn't classify it with any more severity than almost any other band has dealt with on some level. Also, Beau has always seemed like one of the most genuinely good dudes. He's worked with a lot of bands over the years and everyone always seems to have great things to say about working with him. Also just really nice and kind in every encounter I've had. Maybe others have had a different experience, though.
extremely confused by the word grifting in this context and seems like a wildly uncharitable way to assess the situation.
Listened to Saosin’s ST vinyl some this evening for the first time since I bought the record. The bass is so clear. Love the little bit during the 2nd/3rd chorus in Finding Home
I feel like "toxic" is misleading bc we're mostly talking about intra-band drama, backstabbing, and ego clashes going all the way back to the TTN days... which no one disputes. But a lot of people will take that word to mean SA allegations or truly bad behavior toward the outside world, and I've never heard anything like that about these guys. I guess I could've missed something.
You say potato...but I hear you. What the heck do I know anyway? Backstabbing and ego clashing sounds pretty toxic to me, not to mention all the tasteless and very public feuding/airing of dirty laundry, etc etc. but that's rock n roll baby. Never meet your heroes and all that
