the January release date didn't do it any favors, January is such a weird month since the music world is so cyclical on the 12-month calendar, things that come out that early are kinda forgotten easier when the flood of releases come in following months
Dunes was great live, they were absolutely killing it up there when we saw them, but we only actually decided to go because From Indian Lakes was opening. For me, the Dunes albums are the essence of pretty good, I don't skip the songs when they come up on "radio" etc, but I also don't put them on intentionally. I do agree that Violet was a step up. I still have high hopes for the project because of the people involved, but they feel a lot more like a "playing it safe" group right now rather than one really living up to their creative potential.
That's a good summary for me too, other than me finding Violet and Past Lives on par with each other. They've put out maybe half a dozen songs that got me really pumped sprinkled across both LPs and the singles in between. The rest mostly lean safe and filler-ish to my ears.
Checked out Along The Shadow after not hearing it for so long and it not making much of an impression…. This is awesome!!! Wow I don’t know what headspace I was in when I was trying to listen, but revisiting it’s very strong.
Interview from December: Wrapping up the single for the new album now, unsure if it'll be out by April when the Australia tour starts. Another 6 tracks are already recorded. People say it sounds like a 2026 sequel to the S/T
They've shown the songs friends and stuff and that's the feedback. Based on the clips he's shared on twitch yeah that's what it sounds like.
We're still the only ones we are running froooooooom (but also a callback like this, if pulled off well at the climax of a song, would fucking rip - see Cardinals II by TWY)
just listening to this band for the first time and i'm all in on the self-titled surprised to go back in this thread and see so much hate for it need to give translating the name a proper go
I ran through along the shadow vinyl yesterday. I’m another one that doesn’t love beetle album. Prefer ISOSG over it. But I know how big that album is for many people on here. But after AG left it didn’t work for me. I like it more than I did on release day but yeah… also I guess we have reached our once every six months quota to argue about albums and AG/Cove in this thread. So yay.
I think this is the one take I've never read before. I thought I had seen everything. Haha, more power to you!
