Lots of people will say different points. I like the most recent one the best (beach music). People will say DSU or Trick probably too
Can someone recommend me other country-tinged artists/albums that sound like "Bobby?" The male-female harmonies and the strings specifically?
I mean, not that they sound all that much like "Bobby," but if you want coed harmonies and strings with a country tinge, you can't go wrong with Nickel Creek at all.
I really wasn't feeling "Bobby" all that much, but I've enjoyed some of his previous stuff. He had a killer tune on the Flaked soundtrack. How would you describe this guy's music in general?
indie rock out of the built to spill playbook but maybe more intimate the recorded stuff is very different than him live too
Some of his older stuff mines more Elliott Smith type influences as well. As far as getting into him, I'd rec Rules or DSU for accessibility or Trick for his best
Yeah, the double tracking of vocals and harmonizing with himself etc... he sounds like either/or era Elliot often pre DSU
the built to spill part comes out a lot more live when he sounds almost classic rock influence as opposed to the bedroom lo-fi intimacy of the recordings
Yeah, can confirm after seeing them at the same show. I didn't really get it at first, though now I can sort of see his songs as a weird amalgam of There's Nothing Wrong With Love and the darker moments of BTS. But live, they both go on little guitar heroic tangents here and there, cool to see
Man, I remember seeing Alex G at the House Cafe with Title Fight and he did this weird thing where he bobbed his head completely out of time with the music he was playing and he would screech like a bird in between songs. Really weird kid. Good music though.
Feel like a lot of aspects of his live show on tour is meant to make the audience a little uncomfortable haha. He seems a lot more relaxed in videos of hometown shows
he's listed on apple music as SANDY alex g now hmmmm and his FB page too and the domino site has it listed as (SANDY) Alex G
