so I know everyone is going to tell me to listen to this older stuff, but I've only heard the last album which I loved and this is way weirder and awesome.

 

Fine I’ll say it, Walk away is the quintessential sandy song.

Yup he did it again. Love how it takes the folksiness and more “out there” ideas from Rocket and mixes it with the peacefulness of Beach Music. I’m not sure anything tops Gretel for me but there’s a ton to love on here. And it’s sooooo fucking disorienting hahah

This album has all of the bummer twang I loved about Rocket but with some wildly effective electronic excursions I was not expecting

 

Was hesitant about the record ending on a live track but that song is amazing and the horns are unreal, great note to go out on

 

He really held back how weird this album is with the single choices

 

In my arms reminds me of something and I can’t put my finger on it. Wilco or something, it’s driving me crazy haha

I really love the sequencing on this. The whole middle section is so fucking weird and I love how it all gets reigned back in for the last few tracks. The last four are so pretty.

Southern sky is beautiful. Sounds almost like a Sufjan song

 

Yea gets really weird in the middle section. Loving this.

 

I love the mid section of this record, some of my favorite stuff he’s done
