this new song is exactly the same as the first two songs, this album is not shaping up to be diverse at all

 

Really liking the new album on first listen. Say it First and One Last Song have been highlights for me.

 

Album is such a total snooze - like, be a bit more expressive than song after song of soft piano ballads

 

Did we even listen to the same album? One Last Song, Midnight Train, Baby You Make Me Crazy, and No Peace are all upbeat songs with a groove.

 

Lol "No Peace" as upbeat. That song's barely above 60bpm.

 

Lol well for Sam Smith standards its got a little more life. But the other songs I listed are definitely not ballads.

 

I enjoyed this album a bit more than expected after hearing the three pre-release tracks, but it's way too much of the same. Especially if you factor in the 6 bonus tracks, boy does it slog by. Let's not forget this is the same guy who started his career with Disclosure and Naughty Boy collaborations, this new album is 100% more ballad-y than his past material

I definitely take back any praise I gave this album a couple of weeks ago. This is probably the most forgettable albums of 2017.

I really, really love the tracks Burning and Thrill of it All but understand the criticism of it being all the same. Never was a huge fan of his to begin with but here and there he's nice to listen to.

One Last Song is the only thing I've come back to on this.
