Is taking back sunday like a mixed bag live ?. Cause I've seen so many people say they sound awful live now. And have seen a few videos where I have to agree. But then in 2019 I saw them during the albums tour and thought they sounded great. Then I saw them at riot fest last year and also thought they sounded pretty good.
They were great until covid. Adam got more southern preacher character by the end but they still sounded like themselves. It’s been bad each of the 3 or 4 times I’ve seen them since shows started again.
Multiple groups around me tonight walked out during TBS remarking at how bad Adam sounded. One group left two songs in, the other 5. I’m now 0-5 seeing a good sounding TBS show since 2018. 2 indoor shows and 3 outdoor shows, they’re all the same. The bangers from the first 3 albums are still giant singalongs to help mask the vocals but when it’s anything else it’s rough for everyone.
Definitely seems to be a recent thing. Before the pandemic I saw them on the TAF10 tour, the headliner where Letlive opened, an NFL kick off show, and the Coheed tour and they sounded amazing, great energy, Adam was wild on stage.
I've seen Taking Back Sunday eight times over the years, all post-2012 original lineup reunion, and while it's a mixed bag, it's never bothered me fully enough to avoid seeing them. Usually I'm singing along so it does mask my opinion of Adam's vocals. With that said, I'll probably cut out about halfway through TBS on Tuesday to get home at a decent hour. Also very excited for Tuesday! Looking forward to The Maine, Motion City, Hot Mulligan, and Sincere Engineer.
Pretty hyped for the show today! They moved it indoors, which I was originally annoyed with, but we got front row balcony seats so I'm no longer mad since I can sit down in between sets.
Yesterday was fine, I guess? Pretty uneventful - The Maine, Hot Mulligan, and Motion City Soundtrack were their usual festival selves and put on good performances, just didn't get anything amazing. I left before TBS went on.
It’s incredibly odd that they didn’t go GA for all dates. Part of the pull for festivals like this, Punk In Drublic, Warped, etc is that it was GA and you could get as close as you’d like and the crowds were fun. I can’t imagine seeing a show like this from the Lawn or an upper level seat. What a stupid idea from LN who I assume influenced the setup.
Agreed. Plus ticket pricing doesn’t make it 100% worth it either. Far back seats for the Irvine date are $40-ish before fees. Idk how many people would pay that much to see TBS and/or The Maine from that far
I get what you mean but the venue here is both indoor and outdoor, and they moved it indoor. Haven’t been to an outdoor show but from what I heard it’s not the best. Not mad about having a seat at my age though
Philly being GA had the artists pumped. Mom Jeans and The Maine both commented onstage how it's the best day since it's GA & first show where we're all together on solid ground etc
Did Mom Jeans really only play 7 songs yesterday? According to setlists that were starting to play more songs than the start of the tour and I can't figure out why it would've dropped to 7 yesterday unless there were issues
Funny that the Maine even commented on that since the way the other dates are basically thier fault since it's their fest. Unless live nation deceived them when booking the tour into all these seated venues.
Can anyone let me know what times Mom Jeans & Hot Mulligan went on at their date? Debating if I want to go tomorrow in Chicago, but won't be able to make it until 6 or so. Thanks in advance.
Honestly had the best time yesterday. Really think this was a great value. Guess I’m biased cus three of my favorite bands were on it and two others I really enjoy. Thought the set lengths were good for an event like this and everyone brought it. There were a ton of empty seats but it honestly didn’t Create a distraction. All these bands still played to more people than they would’ve if they toured on their own. Don’t really think anyone expected sell outs, seems more like it was designed to make sure anyone who wanted to go would be able to
i like your viewpoint on this. i paid $25 for my ticket and had such a good time. view was great from my seats, and honestly, being able to sit was so nice for me. i wasn’t ecstatic about the lineup, but being able to pay $25 to see the maine and taking back sunday is awesome. i’ve paid way more to see mediocre myspace metal bands recently.
Ya I also paid $25 but even if I had paid $50-70 I would’ve still been happy. And agree on having a seat. I of course would’ve enjoyed open access to the pit, but I’ll see all these bands in GA settings again. Not the end of the world
At the Dallas show right now and they closed the lawn so it could be all indoors and upgraded lawn ticket holders. Really glad I got a cheap lawn ticket off stub hub to be moved to the 100s level. This being almost fully seated is kind of a weird vibe.
