I don’t think week one curiosity is a valid indicator tbh.

 

Always knew this album would perform because it is good

 

I think the tenor of that conversation was less “this album is going to do badly” than “why does nothing in pop music feel like it’s making a big cultural splash right now?”

 

just feel like saying this song is one of my favorite vocal performances over the last couple years. Was incredible to see it live.

I am convinced "House Tour" should be the 3rd single. The 80s are back and that chorus hook is huge.


It'll probably be Sugar Talkin or Willpower if I had to guess.

 

"House Tour" is a bop and the one I go back to the most.

 

I mean chappell and Sabrina just had their domination like 5 seconds ago. Idk what more people expect of them. I think it's expecting a bit much that every release they have will be like a defining pop culture moment. I think this album is solid.

rn we have KATSEYE putting on cute performance and kpop demon hunter slaying. Then Taylor will get people talking for a while.

Idk I feel like the pop landscape is fine rn. It just ebbs and flows.

 

The pop charts are fundamentally static and that's what folks use as an approximation for the "health" of the genre. "The Subway" and "Manchild" should have been ubiquitous all summer and they simply were not.

I think a big part of it is that there used to be more shared public spaces and now the places that still exist like supermarkets and bars have the flexibility to curate their own nostalgic-based playlists rather than allowing curators to pick the tunes that are "popular".

Not sure if that's fair or not, but if you subscribe to the reality that pop means popular than it's certainly a compelling argument.

Listening again, maybe my favorite part. Think I like this as a whole more than Short N Sweet. Really growing on me and I already liked it.

 

Yeah it keeps growing on me too. I still don't think I like any of these as much as my favourites on the last album but as a whole it's pretty close.

 

It’s good and fun.
