wait … Man’s Best Friend is Sabrina Carpenter’s 7th album?!?!?!

 

The Disney machine had her churning albums out.

 

i think i remember seeing ads for her first album on the busses at Disney World the last time i went (2016). she's been going at it for a long time

Her first single came out right around when Girl Meets World started, and that was 2014. So she’s been around for awhile!

 

I watched Girls Meet World (show rules) I didn't realize she was a musical artist as well then! that's cool

 

One of the curiosities COVID took from us was her starring in the “Mean Girls” musical on Broadway with Renee Rapp.

 

She did the theme song!

I don’t care/didn’t pay attention to the sex shit or whatever else that weird discussion was in here, I just find the melodies and whatever she is doing with her voice on (at least the first half of) this to be pretty grating

 

For what it's worth, I love Sabrina as a personality & all-around entertainer, seeing her pop-up at award shows & late night TV is always a treat. I just feel like this album's lyrics are a bit cringe.

But in her defense, all fun things are a little cringe, and I'm clearly not her target demographic, so if people who have the misfortune of dating straight men feel seen by these lyrics, more power to them. Hope this album does well because I want her to stick around for a long time.

 

Gave this only one listen on a sleepy plane ride so far (so not peak attentiveness) and while it didn’t immediately grab me like SnS did, I thought it sounded really well put together and fun. Feel like it’s biggest failings are coming out less than a year after a stellar, unique album and an underwhelming first single.

also as far as inauthenticity goes, I'm more perturbed by rich people instagram posts that look like they were taken on a 30 year old camera.

 

Love the more vibey songs over the pop songs. Albums is good and fun. The haters are dumb and wrong.

 

I already heard When Did You Get Hot? on the radio today. Between that, or House Tour, I wonder how they landed on Tears as the 2nd single. I am curious to what kind of numbers House Tour could put up if released to radio (if it can be?). The eventual music video for that will be great.

 

yeah tears is probably my least favorite song on here. i love house tour, agree they could’ve come up with a fun video as well.

Not as hot on "My Man in Willpower," but I'm halfway through and enjoying this so far. "Sugar Talking" is a vibe
