The NieR plot is crazy and stretches over like 10k years but Automata starts with the premise that no humans are left on earth after the creation of androids+machines and androids are fighting to take the earth back from other machines

 

I just wrote a poem about how modern consumer society is a shitbag hellscape. it's called Dostoevsky Was a Cowboy, and it was quite therapeutic

 

This is the greatest title of all time

thats how I enjoy vidya most these days

 

Automata plays way better but IMO the original Nier is still Yoko Taro’s crowning achievement from a story/world building/ESPECIALLY characters perspective.

I turned into a mess so many times with NieR

Like with Automata most of the heaviness is in the end

And in NieR it's just ALWAYS HEAVY

I won't lie my first crying was at "There's nothing worse than a sad tree" on the loading screen

Second crying was when I first went to see Popola and instantly recognized the inside of the building
