I feel like I witness so much accepted passive sexism on this site these days that it’s hard for me to get up in arms about missing a poster who said active sexist things.

Granted it’s terrible and he shouldn’t be here. But I feel like we have to stop putting up with the passive sexism we see in every single thread too.

 

I watched the John Oliver segment on Trump's relationship with the world and at the end Oliver had a choir come on and sing Smashmouth's "All Star" and all I could think was "I wonder if Ian's seen this"

I remember one time on AbsolutePunk I tried recommending a female artist to someone, and they responded with "I usually don't listen to music fronted by a female, but I'll give it a shot"

Oh I completely agree. More needs to be done with that in the threads that goes unnoticed/unspoken about.

I did become tired of the passive sexism. Tired of calling it out, no one listening, it’s the same shit over and over. A lot of the females here kick ass educating ppl but I mean mentally that shit is tiresome, annoying, etc.. I have a tiny presence on twitter and I deal with enough of that shit on there. Y’all have made this thread a safe space for me though even if the rest of the site isn’t. I don’t know how women with big followings do it honestly.
