Boulevard is very good. Tank 7 is a top tier american saison, IMO.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a barrel aged IPA

Someone didn't try the bourbon barrel black IPA we made :)

But for real, BA IPA's aren't that good normally. Too many places don't dry hop after the barrel aging and that ruins it cause then it's just an old hoppy beer with barrel aging on it.

 

the best american beer Ive had to date was a trippel 2 years aged in red wine cask.

At Great Divide Brewing Company it was the chocolate oak aged yeti

Then at jagged mountain we had a wine barrel aged grouse.

 

never been big on IPA's

 

theres a tonnn of pale ale types out there its daunting

the only ones Im not into are the ones that are heavy on the pine notes

 

Yeti series is very solid. Never heard of Jagged Mountain but looked up that beer and it sounds right up my alley. I pushed my boss into getting wine barrels for our 2 year anniversary so we have a belgian tripel aging in a Chardonnay barrel at the moment, we'll have a lager aging in a chard barrel soon, a saison in a tequila barrel, a belgian quad in Four Roses bourbon barrels, and then a german dunkelweiss in a bourbon barrel. Cannot wait for this anni party in August. Going to be exhausting but so much fun.

 

Also sorry to dominate this thread with beer talk; I know most people aren't too into it. Carry on with the animal and/or food talk.

I was talking about the Oak Aged India Pale Ale. I think they only have it at the brewery. I liked it, gave it a 3.75 on Untapped

In highschool i always wanted to have an O'douls kegger but not tell anyone it was non alcoholic beer as a social experiment.

one of my best friends who moved to Colorado a year and a half ago is surprisingly down on the beer scene there. hes no beer expert but he is discerning and well traveled around the states and canada.

 

reminds me of adam sandler's skit on one of his comedy cd's about the guy who thinks he does shrooms and weed and beer and each time he's like "I'm so high" it gets revealed that it wasn't drugs so he moves onto the next one. "I'm so drunk man!"
