Ryan Key has revealed on Twitter that he is working on his own solo record.

When you send an idea to your producer and he is stoked on it. [IMG] Oh yeah. I'm making my own record by the way.

Least surprising news in some time, but still quite exciting. An album of songs like Leave a Light On and I'm a Wrecking Ball? I'm in.

    Might be Spider-Man...

Not surprising considering he has his own studio.

Not surprising but really stoked to see how it will turn out. Wondering if it will have huge Coldplay vibes.

I'll give this a listen. I liked the Big If stuff from ten years ago.

Those songs were all awesome. Especially Triple Please.

Will be interesting to hear. Based on the last two YC records, I can't imagine too much of this will be sold.

"Bunny and Me" is still one of my favorite songs he's done.

Just wondering, what makes you believe that? I thought the last two YC records were great and their fanbase is so dedicated, Ryan's album should sell well.

I thought they were decent records too, but I don't know -- I suppose just a feeling and looking at the #'s of those records.

Don't get me wrong, I hope it does!

It's probably going to sound like yellowcard acoustic which I'm cool with,

This made my month, he's too much of a talent not to keep making music.

I only first heard the Big If version a few months back... it's incredible.

You know, I was thinking the same, but that stuff he released under Will & The Whiskeymen sounded so different. So I don't know. I'm stoked to hear where it goes either way.

If I was a gambling man, i'd say he goes more in a country-ish direction (See: Wrecking Ball, first half of Fields &Fences).

I'm guessing it will be in the vein of his Will and the Whiskeyman project. That stuff was good. Looking forward to this.

Wouldn't be surprised if he goes the pop route. I remember he mentioned something about writing pop songs on Twitter not too long ago. Not sure if it was for him or other artists.

But he'll probably go the Martin Johnson route, writing and producing for pop artists while doing solo rock music.

    Constant horror and bone-deep dissatisfaction.

    I'm really excited for this.
