Went to Red Rocks last night and it was awesome. He played for something like 2 hours and 40 minutes. Set had one new one in it! damn. that's awesome. did he put some kind of weird spin on Shakedown the second time, or did they straight up just play it again? haha
Evidently Freddie screwed up the ending the first time and he wanted to redeem himself. The second time had a little longer ending with a little solo. I saw someone speculate that they were recording the show and wanted the better version for that but who knows.
AC/DC and Hornsby does not sound good to me at all. I take it with a grain of salt like everything Adams says though.
I feel like any time Ryan has described a certain album as being influenced by whatever in the past, those influences are only barely noticeable. Like, the whole Smiths aspect of his 1989 cover can really only be heard, sort of, in some of the jangly, chime-y guitar parts.
Well he's almost always talking about sonics, not writing. Like he specifically said ELO and BTO were the guitar tones, but headlines ignore that
Right. I'd be very surprised if this album ends up literally sounding like AC/DC meets Bruce Hornsby meets ELO haha. I'd love to just nerd out with Ryan over guitar gear/recording equipment, dude seems to have a pretty extensive collection laying around at PAX-AM.
Fair enough, but I can definitely hear the influences he's talking about in a few of the new songs he's played live, so who knows.
Seriously, I've been seeing his name pop up a lot lately. He played on <- that guy's most recent album, as well. I think it's awesome. But anyway, I really can't wait for this. I loved self-titled. I'd also like to finally see him live, hopefully soon.
