"Mid-Morning Lament" is the one that really kills me. Finally got this on vinyl for Christmas and have been falling in love with it all over again.
My fiancé thinks of “Under The Sun” as such a sad song because of his vocal and I feel the exact opposite.
I think I fall in love with this album a little more with each listen. The run from “Alive” to “Brave”...damn. “Sorry that I didn’t take your call I’ve been busy staring at the wall The disappointment in your voice would hurt me most of all Sorry that I didn’t take your call”
It’s basically a perfect album through “Rubber.” “Jubilee” is the only track I don’t really care for.
I like “Jubilee” but it’s not a standout. The verses don’t really do it for me. Luckily it’s followed by “Closest Thing” which is one of the simplest, sweetest love songs I’ve ever heard.
i shared under the sun with the group text and thomas said it “it sounded like daniel powter” like a goddamn fool
my wife and I did closest thing as our wedding song. Though this was Nov 2019 so we used the paste studio sessions as the mp3
he wasn’t. the rest of the group didn’t like it and he was like “yeah it sounds like starbucks singer songwriter stuff from the early 00s like daniel powter” because he doesn’t know anything about music
i get not liking the histrionics of the song (i picked it specifically bc of length for our playlist and the vocal run at the end - its not my fave on the album) but it’s pretty clearly in lineage of dashboard and not, like, five for fighting and shit lol
I feel like Thomas would probably vibe more with, like, "Radio Cloud," which I believe Ruston has described as his song with a "blink-182 chorus."
Oh lol, I’m pretty sure my best friend in high school used to troll him on AP. Idk why it was so funny at the time but he always called him Thomas “Mastiff”
