Yeah i'm not really sure if that's supposed to be an admission of a relapse or not. Maybe he wrote that in COVID quarantine, I know I've done some staring at the walls from boredom haha
Album was done by March, so I sort've doubt it. Same with the "deep in the virus, sign of the times" line... seems like it just happens to be unrelated lyric that is serendipitously descriptive.
I was thinking about it tonight and there’s an argument to make that like 4 of my top 5 RK songs (and like 7 of my top 10) are from this record. Pretty incredible how much of a mark it’s made on me in just a few weeks.
Dying Star definitely still has more heavy hitters for me, but “Mid-Morning Lament” and “Changes” are flirting with my RK top five.
I think mine are mostly from his previous album and ep. “Mid morning lament” is probably my favorite because it sounds the most like my other favorites (Blackout, Mercury, Paratrooper’s Battlecry). I like when he gets loud. But I’m also loving Hallelujah Anyway. I almost feel like it would have been a great album opener. But this album is great no matter what.
Okay, I’ve given this album 5 listens and I’m just not into it the way I thought I’d be. Dying Star is immensely better at the moment, IMO. I got bored with each listen on this new one. Hopefully this feeling changes over time for me. Glad everyone else is into it though.
